Monitoring forms an integral part of both the programming cycle and project cycle. The objective of monitoring is the continuous identification of progress in the implementation of operational programmes or projects and comparing obtained data and information with the initial expected plan. Monitoring is a systematic activity that takes place during the entire duration of the operational programme.
The monitoring of financial aid from the structural funds of the European Union is, on the central level, the basic source of information for management, coordination and the creation of regular monitoring reports or occasional analyses of progress in the execution of the National Strategic Reference Framework for the top ranks of ministries, the European Commission, Government of the Czech Republic, for the Parliament and for the general public.
